The China-France Seminar on Digitization of Cultural Relics and Monuments was held in Chengdu

On September 17, the "China-France Seminar on Digitization of Cultural Relics and Monuments" was successfully held in Chengdu during the 7th Expo. The forum is jointly organized by the Commercial Investment Office of the French Embassy in China and the Cultural and Educational Cooperation Office of France to invite French experts and enterprises in the field of digital cultural relics and monuments to come to China for exchange, aiming to introduce and show French technologies and products through seminars, road shows and one-to-one business meetings between Chinese and French enterprises.

At the opening of the conference, Ms. Man Biyan, Consul General of France in Chengdu, Mr. Duan Yong, Director of the Department of Museums and Social Relics of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and Vice President of the Chinese Museums Association, and Mr. Luo Wenzhe, Counsellor of Cultural and Education Cooperation of the French Embassy in China and Director of the French Cultural Center in Beijing delivered speeches respectively. They introduced the background of this seminar; Recalling the cooperation between China and France in the field of cultural heritage over the years; He expressed the hope that by taking this seminar as an opportunity, China and France could create more opportunities for cooperation in the digitization of cultural relics and historical sites.

Mr. David Collin, head of the digital department of the National Monuments Center of France, explained the strategic direction of digitization of the National Monuments Center of France and the augmented reality projects of the Cluny Monastery, the ancient prison in Paris and the Villa Cavroix in France in the topic of "Improving the Monuments Visiting Experience through Digital Technology". Mr. Zheng Yu, General Manager of Beijing Guowen Yan Information Technology Co., Ltd., introduced the Digital Survey and Surveying Project of Sichuan Pengxi Baofan Temple Fresco, and shared the work involved in the project, such as ontology survey, value evaluation, digitization and pest analysis.

Another highlight of the seminar was the presentation of 7 French companies, who introduced and demonstrated their achievements in robotics, publishing on marketing platforms, digitization of cultural relics using 3D modeling, virtual Tours and virtual collections. After the seminar, Chinese and French experts also discussed topics such as "digital protection and appreciation of cultural heritage", "balance between small cultural heritage and large cultural heritage".

Since its establishment in 2004, the Expo has been successfully held for six times and has become a very important international event for museums and related industries. The forum and exhibition form is adopted to build a good communication platform for Chinese and foreign museums and related industries. The "China-France Cultural Relics Digitization Seminar" created an opportunity for participating museums and enterprises to learn about the digital technology of cultural relics and monuments in France, communicate with potential customers and partners, and discuss the cooperation of new projects.
